Cheese-Melting Chair Fitness – Tip # 8

You can burn calories and melt away that cottage cheese on your thighs without standing. Chairs don’t have to limit you to non-motion. You have so many options for movements and positions on a chair or seated on a floor, and Fit2B has outlined many ideas in our “Sit and Get Fit” workout pathway!

Workouts that can be done on the floor or on a chair... because life happens!

Chair workouts are perfect for those who have balance issues, hip problems, swollen ankles from edema, a diastasis that makes it hard for them to connect to their core while standing, or when they are on modified bedrest, or are wheelchair bound. Getting your weight down doesn’t require standing up. You can exercise every body part while sitting or laying down -albeit the loads won’t be the same – but, still, the possibilities are endless. And isn’t the lowered load a good thing when someone is starting small? There are so many excellent exercises for your core and extremities that you can do with a chair at the office, on the couch, in a wheelchair, laying on the floor, on your bed, anywhere!

Don’t let any limitation hold you back from moving at least one joint. Just because you can’t move your legs or you’re holding a baby with one arm, that doesn’t mean you can move your other limbs, right? Use what you’ve got, and work on improving the range of motion that you do have, and you will stay stronger and healthier than if you are non-mobile.
