This week’s focus routine contains a lot of nuanced notions about weightlifting. It’s not “difficult.” Again, nearly everyone can bend over and pick up a small weight off the floor… But HOW are we doing it? How are we breathing, holding our hands, positioning our shoulders and knees… and why does the nuance of motion matter? Because when we move better due to gain more control of our bodies, we literally improve our self-control, and improvements happen faster!
This was a lesson that I needed to ask for help with when it came to choosing the routines, though, because – to me – every home workout video on Fit2B has nuance to it. I knew I needed to find out which of our exercise routines YOU our MEMBERS find nuanced, so I did a poll in our private member forum on Facebook which informed my choice of the featured routine + parallel workouts below.

Moving Thought:Β First, the quote above shook me when I read it. As hard I’ve worked to shuck the shackles of what this world says I’m supposed to be, the marks are still there. I’ve always been intrigued by the nuances of, well, everything… especially how bodies operate and move. Most people can lift a hand over their head, but then I watch how they do that: What their shoulders do, what their head does, what their ribs do, what their hand does once it’s up there, what their posture does as they raise that hand, plus how long can they hold it? My brain thinks all of these things as I watch a full classroom of students move in various ways, all responding to one single cue: raise your hand. Diastasis Recti is truly one of the most nuanced conditions I’ve ever fixated on researching. You can read about my actual research and some of the things we’ve learned here.
