WEEKLY CHALLENGE:Β
Since your energy is lower right now, but not completely tanked, let’s set a reasonable goal of Β 3-4 Fit2B videos for this week, plus maybe a gentle walk?
Light work that still feels like it matters is key to remaining consistent in your personal practice whenever your body asks for less, and Yoga focused on form is wonderful for this phase. The only reason this lesson isn’t marked with a β€οΈ red heart as well is because the featured video + its parallels include some inversions, and I try to avoid those when I’m on my period.
Now, I’m assuming you’re here because you LIKE yoga – or you’re at least curious to try it – so I’ve got the very first routine that I wish everyone who practices the classic Suryanamaskara “Sun Salutation” series would do in order to integrate better core awareness.
No, we aren’t worshiping the sun π Think of it like the exercise equivalent to having a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise and smiling at a new day. However, you don’t have to face East, and you can do it at any time of day to give your body and mind a reboot.
Featured Routine: Classic Flow A
Parallel “Yoga” Workouts:
We have an entire pathway of Yoga videos on Fit2B known as “Intro 2 Yoga” where you can find a progressive series of videos that we filmed in our early years. You can definitely explore that this week, but I’ve also listed some of my fave home yoga workoutsΒ that I’ve filmed here:
Moving Thought:Β As I sifted through hundreds of quotes about Yoga for this lesson, it again being apparent to me why so many are confused by what it really is… because it’s different things to different people. For me, it’s a method of fitness which has named more precise movements of the human body than any other workout style out there. I also appreciate how it’s the only style of fitness that holds space for spiritual growth where every other exercise method deliberately ignores that scientifically proven aspect of our wellness. However, many people have strong feelings about Yoga, and I respect that since I used to avoid it as well until I researched it thoroughly for myself. Hint: it began BEFORE hinduism and buddhism. If you’re curious, I’ve written a great deal in response to those who come at me for teaching Yoga here and hereΒ + done a podcast here.
