If you have been wanting to dance, but you need to ease into the footwork β wow β do we have a treat for you!! Weβd like to introduce you to Jahnea Lecouris, a vibrant dance instructor whom we know youβll adore! For many years, Fit2B Members begged us for a few dance workouts, but that’s NOT my comfort zone. We had to search for the perfect instructor who could film with us and fit our vibe. We finally connected with this beautiful, energetic friend who shines while she teaches you how to shimmy!
How did we meet? Well, Jahnea (pronounced Jaw-Nay) was introduced to me at a church BBQ several Summers ago. A common friend said we had a lot in common with fitness, and we proceeded to chat our way through the food line. I found out that Jahnea leads local dance classes and runs “Restored & Revived,” a non-profit recovery center for women coming out of addiction. At the time of writing this lesson, I teach several classes a month at R & R where Jahnea and her team do such amazing work in our community.
I can’t begin to number how many clients I’ve spoken with who think they can’t dance due to Diastasis and pelvic floor concerns, but that’s a myth! Like any type of fitness, it’s all about strategy and progression. If you start with small motions and connect to your core, I believe you can do anything… especially dance!

Here are more working that would help you be strong and flexible for the work of hoeing, yanking, digging, and carrying things in your garden or on your farm! You’re not required to do all of these this week. You can if you wantΒ to, but this list is more for ideas andΒ inspiration!
Basic Latin Dance II (which is on the same page on Fit2B as the first one above)
Basic Dance Aerobics (my own debut dance routine on Fit2B)
Rebounding Basics (do it on the floor if you don’t have a trampoline)
Argentum AerobicsΒ – this one is more challenging!
Moving Thought:Β It’s very hard to dance without moving your hips. Moving this hips requires a strong but steady core that ALLOWS this motion without pain and loss of control. Racewalking – a sport I enjoy – also requires a LOT of hip action. If you were ever taught that “wiggling your hips” is wrong, it’s time to set that aside. Your pelvis was made to wiggle, shift, tilt, tuck, untuck, gyrate, untilt, and perform all kinds of actions that are NEEDED for sport, athletics, dancing, and everyday life itself.Β

So refreshing to do something that feels so new to me and out of my comfort zone⦠but fun! This reminded me that there is a world of uncomfortable (read: new to me!) things out there that will blend a blast if I just give them a try!
